Moving Forward

By |2016-02-24T13:29:28-06:00February 19th, 2016|Parent News|0 Comments

Our Director of Teaching and Learning, Balazs Dibuz, will be moving on at the end of this school year. He plans to return to his childhood home (and his family) in the Pacific Northwest, where he will continue developing greenhouse-based ecological design (permaculture) curricula and materials for schools and other educational institutions. But he is in no hurry; he will spend July and August traveling across the country with his tear-drop trailer, his canoe, and his bicycle in tow, researching settings for the novel he is writing.

Please visit the careers section of the Ancona website to view the position description.

Notice of Nomination – Ancona Board of Trustees

By |2018-12-17T11:33:31-06:00February 18th, 2016|Parent News|0 Comments

The next meeting will be held in Mitchell Commons at 6:30 p.m., March 17. We are pleased to announce the nomination of Ancona parent and dedicated volunteer, Nanette Harris.

The Board encourages parents to attend all regularly scheduled Board of Trustee meetings as they are open to the public and there is a time for parent/visitor comments at each meeting. We hope to see you there.

Nanette Harris and her husband, Andre Harris, have been active parents at Screen Shot 2016-02-18 at 12.42.08 PMAncona since their oldest son Andre II joined the Ancona community at the age of 3 in 2005. They have two other sons Nolan (5th grade) and Drake (2nd grade) who also started Ancona at the preprimary level.

Nanette has been an active volunteer for the past 10 years. She has supported recruitment events, served on the Gala committee, assisted with Grandparents’ Day and coordinated photo day. She has been a room parent for Coach Tayé, Ms. Marsha and Mr. B., and a room volunteer for Christiane, Jane & Ms. Ellen (where she really enjoyed doing dictation). She was a chaperone for Camp Edwards and numerous other field trips. She served on the strategic planning committee and APO (currently the APC). Nanette holds a Master’s degree in Psychology and was a clinical therapist who primarily worked with children and their families within the DCFS system. Advocating for the education of all children is important to Nanette. She is looking forward to sharing her time and talent as a trustee.
