Welcome Back to Middle School: Liz Iverson Returns!

By |2018-12-17T11:33:07-06:00April 20th, 2016|Parent News|0 Comments

Dear Ancona Community:

As you already know, Bill Singerman, our amazing Language Arts and Social Studies teacher of grades 7/8, is leaving at the end of thisLiz_Iverson_208 school year. Filling his shoes is a great challenge. Bill brings tremendous creativity and interdisciplinary study to student learning experiences. We need someone like him who is progressive, inventive, collaborative, and always looking for ways to improve the classroom.

When Liz Iverson first came to Ancona, she was teaching middle school. She gracefully moved to teaching grades 3/4 when our numbers shifted, and has done amazing things there. Opportunities for educators to shift are very rare at our small school, which is why I am confident that Liz moving back to her middle school roots to the 7/8 position that Bill is vacating is going to be a tremendous boon for Ancona’s students. She is exactly the kind of outstanding teacher that typifies Ancona.

Please join me in congratulating Liz on accepting her new challenge. With Liz moving to this position, it also means that we are looking for an excellent teacher for grades 3/4. I will update you as we make progress on this. I welcome your thoughts on the matter. We will aggressively recruit high quality candidates of color in order to live up to our mission and culture, and best serve the needs of our students. Without a doubt, there are fantastic teachers out there who long for a school like Ancona where they can grow further.

Yours sincerely,
