Head Teacher, Preprimary
Jane Paha has been teaching at the Ancona School since 1995. She started as an assistant teacher in the preprimary, Montessori classrooms. After her first two years at Ancona, Jane accepted a unique position at The Field Museum. For three years, she taught seventh and eighth grade students how to catalog the museum’s fly collection and build an online database, giving scientists all over the world access to the vast collection. When Jane returned to Ancona, she pursued her Head Teacher Montessori training, and has been a Head Teacher since 2003. Jane is particularly proud of her involvement in curriculum development at Ancona School, and is currently working with a group of her colleagues on researching mindfulness to strengthen the social, emotional wellbeing of Ancona students throughout their school day. Jane and her husband, Michael, manage their own local beekeeping business. During the winter months, Jane and Mike produce hand-dipped candles and soap. Jane is fond of outdoor adventures in her kayak.
