Marsha Stewart


Marsha was born and raised in New York City. Her family moved to Teaneck, N.J. when she was in fifth grade. She earned her BA from Northwestern University and her Masters of Library Science from the University of Michigan. She also studied Liberation Theology and urban youth ministry at the Lutheran School of Theology. Marsha served as a Library Administrator/Children’s Librarian in Columbus, Ohio and Queens, New York before coming to Ancona in 1989. She is an active member of the American Library Association (ALA), the Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC), the American Association of School Librarians (AASL), the Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA), and the Illinois Computing Educators (ICE). She had the honor of being profiled in the ALSC Matters newsletter in May 2017. She has been selected to serve on The Monarch Award: Illinois’ K-3 Readers’ Choice Award Steering Committee from 2018-2021. She loves to bake, travel, study history, and of course, read. She lives with her family in Hyde Park.
