Sign Up for Ancona Summer 2018!

Ancona Summer consists of two-week Journeys that emphasize creative process, hands-on techniques, and teamwork. Each Journey includes multiple field trips, extended time outdoors, and weekly swimming.

Cooking (June 25th – July 6th)

Sticky Fingers Cooking will be returning again this summer to lead campers in a variety of cooking classes. Recipes will emphasize ethnic cuisine and freshly grown local produce, featuring hands-on instruction from a professional chef. Our young chefs will put their skills to the test by creating a bake sale in order to raise money for charity.

Sports (July 9th – July 20th)

Fresh off another championship season with the flag football team, Coach Jerome will be joined by familiar faces from Ancona to bring some competition to the summer! Students will be encouraged to engage in a multitude of sports and team activities with the emphasis squarely placed on sportsmanship, teamwork, and fun. The focus for this journey is to engage young athletes and boost their confidence in a low stress environment!

Engineering (July 23rd – August 3rdSOLD OUT

Ancona Technology Coordinator Rodney Williams will bring the engineer out in your child! Working with a variety of materials, campers will have the chance to create simple circuits, computer programs, and even robots. After learning fabrication techniques from a plethora of experts, children will be armed with the knowledge and confidence to create their very own technologically inspired creation.

Urban Farming (August 6th – August 17th) SOLD OUT

From farming in our garden to building wildlife habitats, campers will get their hands dirty throughout this journey with Ancona Outdoor Learning Educator Chris Weber! With outings to nature preserves, hanging around with goats, and checking out local neighborhood chicken coops, campers will learn about a variety of ways to be responsible stewards of the Earth.

Little Explorers is an 8-week Montessori-based program for rising P3-Kindergarteners (three, four, and five-year-olds). Veteran Montessori educators Ellen Cole and Yolita Ray will engage students with dynamic adventures built into their daily activities. Ancona Summer Little Explorers will enjoy tinkering, art, outdoor activities, nature walks, and other academically rich programming.

Great News! Due to the high level of interest in Ancona Summer, there will be a second Little Explorers classroom added on for this year’s program. Ancona’s pre-primary PE instructor Liz Boros-Kazai along with long time pre-primary instructor Jerome Garner, will engage and entertain students ages 3 to 5 years old.

Ancona Summer Journeys and Little Explorers runs from June 25, 2018 – August 17, 2018. All programs begin at 8:00 AM. Programming ends at 3:00 PM, Monday-Friday; supervised playtime ends at 5:30 PM. All students must be picked up by that time.
