Winter 2019 After School Programming

We are excited to announce our After School offerings for Winter, 2019!

The majority of our student-centered, experiential programming is included with your After School registration. One of our partner organizations—Renaissance Knights Chess— require registration and fees separate from After School. You are not required to sign your child(ren) up for After School if they would like to participate in Renaissance Knights Chess. If students remain in After School beyond the duration of the partner class, the After School daily drop-in rate will apply.

In addition to our new offerings, we are happy to continue providing Homework Help and the Middle School Lounge as part of our After School program.

Rose Gottlieb will continue to bring the creativity and comedian out in your child! This session will culminate with a “Who’s Line Is It Anyway?” style performance before Spring Break.

Chris Weber will keep our students engaged in gardening despite any weather the Chicago winter tries to throw at us! A special bonus: if we find ourselves in the midst of an extra snowy winter Chris will be instructing children in snow fort building on the Ancona athletic field. Wednesday:  Dance with T-Kay from Hyde Park School of Dance, 3:30 – 4:30 p.m. / No additional cost for 8 sessions

This weekly class has children of all ages moving and grooving to the beat. Students who join in on this class will learn various dancing styles and play fun rhythm games, all the while developing their large and fine motor skills. T-Kay does an amazing job of making each child feel included, confident, and safe expressing themselves through movement and dance.

Thursday: Makerspace with Rodney Williams, 3:30 – 4:30 p.m. / No additional cost for 9 sessions

In our very own makerspace, Ancona’s junior engineers will get to 3D print, learn basic CAD design, and build with their hands throughout this immersive and engaging program. Our very own Technology Coordinator Rodney is back at it again this year and we can hardly wait to see what creations our amazing kids come up with. This class is available to students in third grade and up and space is limited to FIFTEEN STUDENTS.
