• Q. Who does the Ancona School enroll?

  We enroll children ages 3 through 8th grade.

• Q. How do I apply?

  The Ancona School’s application process is online. You may save and come back to an application at any time. Please visit our Apply page for more information and to submit an inquiry!

• Q. Will my child be interviewed?

  Student visits will be scheduled for all applicants. Student visits, just like our teaching approach, go beyond the norm; we look at the whole child.
  
  In addition, we invite parents to a virtual interview, via Zoom, with a member of the Admissions team prior to the student visit.

• Q. Does my child have to attend the student visit to be considered for admissions?

  Yes. All applicants must undergo and complete the admissions process including, but not limited to, the student visit in order to receive an admissions decision.

• Q. Can I visit a classroom?

  Families who submit an online application are encouraged to schedule a classroom observation. Observations are available from November through April of each year and are 30 minutes in length. Please be advised that classroom observations are restricted to adults only.

• Q. When is the application deadline?

  Ancona’s application deadline is in mid-December every year.

• Q. When do I find out about an admissions decision?

  Application decisions are typically announced between mid-February and early March. Keep in mind that admissions decisions cannot be made until all requested documents are submitted and the family has completed both a student and parent visit.

• Q. Is the entire school Montessori?

  No. The Ancona School combines the best practices in progressive education including, but not limited to, constructivist and Montessori approaches to teach your child for life. Ancona’s Montessori roots are reflected in our Montessori Early Childhood classrooms for children three to six years old. Our Elementary school’s open classroom environment incorporates the best of progressive and research-based pedagogies.

• Q. Do you provide lunch?

  Students bring packed lunches or parents can purchase lunch orders through ChiFresh Kitchen.

• Q. When does the school year begin?

  School for all grades begins on a staggered schedule the week after Labor Day and continues into the second full week of June.

• Q. Does Ancona have Before and After School programs?
