Athletics

Ancona’s interscholastic athletics program—the Ancona Aviators—provides students with opportunities for personal growth, self-discipline, teamwork, and fun outside of the school day.

Ancona belongs to the Chicago Area Middle Schools League (CAMS), along with several other independent schools in the city. All middle school students are encouraged to participate in one or more athletic teams per year. We enforce a no-cut policy to ensure all interested students are able to play regardless of skill level or past experience.

In accordance with our values and CAMS league gender policies, students are permitted to participate in athletics on teams that align with their gender identity. Teammates, coaches, and all others should refer to all student-athletes by the student's preferred name; pronouns should reflect students' gender identities.
