Position Summary

Junior Counselors are high-school-aged students (under the age of 18) who support Summer Counselors and Auxiliary Program Staff in creating a safe and enjoyable environment for campers. This is a paid position for Ancona alum.
Essential Duties of the Job
  • Assist Summer Counselors in supervising campers and leading activities.
  • Engage with campers by participating in games, crafts, and other recreational activities.
  • Support the distribution of snacks and materials for activities.
  • Help set up and clean up program spaces before and after activities.
  • Model appropriate behavior and serve as a positive role model for younger campers.
  • Assist in ensuring camper safety by following all supervision and emergency procedures.
  • Attend staff training sessions and actively participate in learning opportunities.
  • Communicate effectively with staff and campers, demonstrating enthusiasm and leadership.

Physical Demands
  • Balancing: Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling while walking, standing, or crouching on narrow, slippery, or uneven surfaces.
  • Standing: Remaining on foot for extended periods.
  • Walking: Moving on foot over long distances or between sites.
  • Talking: Clearly communicating instructions and information to students and staff.
    Hearing: Understanding spoken words and instructions at normal speaking levels, with or without assistance.
Work Environment
  • Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 30 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
  • Environmental exposure: Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.

Expected Hours of Work
Shifts between 7:30 AM - 6 PM
