Ancona Summer Overview
Ancona Summer consists of two camps: Caterpillar Camp for 3-year-olds through rising Kindergarteners and Butterfly Camp for rising 1st-6th graders. We also offer a Counselor in Training program for rising 7th and 8th graders and rising 9th grade alums. More details about each program (including sample schedules) below!

Caterpillar Camp
Read MoreA Montessori-based summer program for campers aged P3-Kindergarten. Our daily programming will include math, science, practical life skills (zipping, tying, pouring, washing, etc), arts and crafts, outdoor play and exploration, weekly field trips, and water play.
Caterpillar Campers have the option for a half-day (AM or PM) or full-day schedule!

Butterfly Camp
A traditional summer camp environment for rising 1st-6th grade students. Each week campers will enjoy revolving programming choices involving arts, crafts, building activities, sports, outdoor games, trips around the neighborhood, outdoor play and water activities, and much more!Read More

Counselor in Training (CIT) Program
Read MoreThe Counselor in Training role is a volunteer position for current rising 7th and 8th grade Ancona students and rising 9th grade Ancona alums.
CITs may choose between two shifts: 7:30 am - 3:00 pm shift or 10 am - 5:30 pm. They assist with running morning meetings, planning and running activities, and helping Caterpillar Camp with snack, lunch, and recess.

What are the dates of Ancona Summer?
Ancona Summer runs from June 24, 2024 – August 16, 2024. Camp is closed on July 4, 2024. -
What are the hours for Ancona Summer?
Camp runs from 8:00 am – 5:30 pm each day. -
What is the price for Ancona Summer?
Ancona Summer costs $650 per week; the week of July 1, 2024 prorated ($520) due to it being a short week. -
Do you offer half-day or partial week options for Ancona Summer?
Yes! There are AM (8:00 am - 1:00 pm) and PM (1:00 pm - 5:30 pm) half-day options for Caterpillar Campers in grades P3-Kindergarten. Half-day campers will have their own classroom to minimize disruptions to the routine of full-day campers.
There are no half-day or partial week options for Butterfly Campers. -
Do you offer financial aid or discounts for Ancona Summer?
For Ancona Summer 2024, we are offering an Early Bird discount for all registrations through March 15, 2024.
In addition, there is a 10% sibling discount for families with multiple children. This discount applies to each child after the first registrant, and will be deducted from the registration amount(s) with the lowest total dollar value.
Example: Child A registers at $650/week; Child B registers at $585/week; Child C registers at $585/week -
What ages do you serve at Ancona Summer?
We have programming for 3-year-olds through rising 6th graders. Rising 7th-9th graders are able to participate in our Counselor in Training (CIT) program. -
Do you offer a meal program during the summer?
We will continue our partnership with Chifresh Kitchen over the summer. Please contact adavis@anconaschool.org for more information. -
Do campers go on field trips?
Ancona campers enjoy trips to various locations including museums, sporting events, and the beach during each weekly session. Families will be notified about the week's trip at the start of each week. -
Is there swimming during Ancona Summer?
We are not currently offering swimming in a pool, but we do have water play each week on our playground or at a nearby park. -
Who are the Ancona Summer counselors?
Ancona Summer counselors and activity leaders are a mix of current faculty members, Ancona alums, and current Auxiliary (After School and Before School) staff.
