ANCONA SUMMER LITTLE EXPLORERS
Little Explorers is an 8-week Montessori-based program for rising P3-Kindergarteners (three, four, and five-year-olds). Led by veteran educators Ellen Cole, Yolita Ray, Jerome Garner, and Gloria Carroll, Little Explorers will engage students with dynamic adventures built into their daily activities. Campers will enjoy tinkering, art, outdoor activities, nature walks, and other academically rich programming augmented by field trips and swimming.
ANCONA SUMMER JOURNEYS
Journeys consists of four two-week Journeys that emphasize the creative process, hands-on techniques, and teamwork. Each Journey is augmented by field trips, extended time outdoors, and weekly swimming. Each Journey is specifically designed to be a two-week experience however single weeks can be purchased to better accommodate families’ schedules. Summer 2019 Journeys:
Performing Arts: June 24 – July 5
Performing Arts will bring out the creativity and performer in your child! Students will develop a foundation in improvisation, theater games, and skit development in an environment that fosters acceptance, freedom, and fun! Campers will then have the opportunity to build a performance piece of their own choosing, and the Journey will culminate with a Cabaret style performance featuring all of our brilliant young thespians on Friday, July 5, 2019
Sports: July 8 – July 19
Fresh off yet another championship season with the flag football team, Coach Jerome will be joined by familiar faces from Ancona to bring some friendly competition to the summer! Students will engage in a variety of sports and team activities that emphasize sportsmanship, teamwork, and fun. This Journey will engage young athletes and boost their confidence in a low stress environment!
Urban Farming: July 22 – August 2
From farming in our garden to building wildlife habitats, campers will get their hands dirty throughout this Journey with our very own Outdoor Learning Educator, Chris Weber! With outings to nature preserves, hanging out with goats, and checking out local neighborhood chicken coops, Urban Farming will introduce and reinforce practices to ensure campers become good stewards of the Earth.
Engineering: August 5 – August 16
Technology Coordinator Rodney Williams wants to bring the maker out in your child! Campers will have the chance to explore simple circuits, a variety of computer programs, coding, and much more! What’s more, after learning fabrication techniques from a plethora of makers and engineering experts, our intrepid engineers will have the knowledge and confidence to fabricate their very own creation.
