From farming in our garden to building wildlife habitats, campers will get their hands dirty throughout this Journey with Ancona’s very own Outdoor Learning Educator, Chris Weber!
With outings to nature preserves, hanging around with goats, and checking out local neighborhood chicken coops, Urban Farming will introduce and reinforce practices to ensure campers become good stewards of the Earth. We will continue to build on those practices while at the same time instructing and inspiring children while they learn basic recipes and culinary skills from various guest chefs.
Full S.T.E.A.M. Ahead (1st-8th Grades):
July 26th – August 20th
Campers will have the chance to explore simple circuits, a variety of computer programs, coding, and much more! What’s more, after learning fabrication techniques from a plethora of makers and engineering experts, our intrepid engineers will have the knowledge and confidence to fabricate their very own creation.
This will be realized in a few different ways from competing with cardboard to 3D printing and a multitude of computer and hands-on activities! Artistic Adventures will keep that creative spirit alive as campers work on a multitude of projects in a variety of mediums including pottery, painting, printmaking, and more.
Little Explorer (3 years old – kindergarten):
June 28th – August 20th
Pre-primary students will engage in a fun summer filled with activity and exploration! Centered around the theme of Metamorphosis & Change, children will have an opportunity to monitor the life cycle of Monarch butterflies, explore various nature trails and preserves around the Hyde Park neighborhood, and take part in a wide variety of exciting activities!
Little Explorer Spanish Immersion (3 years old – kindergarten):
NEW THIS YEAR! We will be offering a Spanish Immersion Little Explorers classroom!
This group of students will follow the same Metamorphosis & Change curriculum while simultaneously engaging in fun activities centered around learning the Spanish language and other cultural experiences!
