Counselor in Training (CIT) Program
The Counselor in Training role is a volunteer position for current rising 7th and 8th grade Ancona students and rising 9th grade Ancona alums.
CITs may choose between two shifts: 7:30 am - 3:00 pm shift or 10 am - 5:30 pm. They assist with running morning meetings, planning and running activities, and helping Caterpillar Camp with snack, lunch, and recess.
Counselor in Training Responsibilities
- Lead morning/afternoon meeting. This includes making daily announcements and planning and facilitating a daily group game
- Serve as a runner (walking campers to and from their lockers/classrooms) during drop-off and pick-up times
- Help supervise snack, lunch, and free play times
- Assist teachers and counselors with supervising daily activities (including rest time, work time, activity blocks, trips, etc)
- Take photos of daily activities and help to produce weekly parent newsletters
- Plan and facilitate—with help from adult staff members—any special activities that interest them (art, sports, dance, theater, etc)
- Assist teachers and counselors with other duties, as needed
